How our charging works

Our hourly rate is fixed and published, but the overall cost of a job is not fixed by the rate alone. The final labour cost depends on how long the work takes, unless a fixed quotation has been provided and accepted before work begins. Where we can establish the scope in advance — for example a radiator replacement or a straightforward tap change — we will quote for it wherever reasonably possible.

Some faults have to be investigated before the full extent can be confirmed. In those cases the engineer will explain what has been found, what is likely to be needed and how the remaining work will be charged before continuing. You can read more about this on our process page.

Terms that apply to our prices

• There is a minimum charge of one hour.
• After the first hour, labour is charged in 30-minute increments.
• The prices shown exclude VAT.
• There is no separate call-out charge.
• Work expected to take more than two hours will be quoted wherever reasonably possible.
• If the scope cannot be established before work begins, the engineer will explain the likely next steps and charges.
• All materials and parts supplied are subject to a 20% mark-up.
• Time spent collecting materials is charged at the applicable hourly rate, capped at one hour per trade.
• Customer-supplied materials are not covered by our workmanship or product warranty.
• Fixed-price quotations may be provided verbally or in writing before work begins.
• Full payment is required when the invoice is issued.
• We accept Visa, Mastercard and other major credit and debit cards, excluding American Express.
• Apple Pay is accepted.
• Estimates are usually free, although complicated surveys or appointments involving significant travel or investigation may be chargeable. Any charge must be explained before booking.
