What the certificate covers
A standard visit covers up to two gas appliances, such as a boiler and a gas fire or cooker. If your property has additional gas appliances, these can be included in the same visit for an additional charge per appliance, so it is worth mentioning all appliances at the property when arranging your appointment.
Combining with a boiler service
Many landlords choose to combine their annual gas safety check with a boiler service in the same appointment, which is generally more convenient than arranging two separate visits and is priced accordingly.
If an appliance fails the check
If an appliance is found to be unsafe, the Gas Safe registered engineer will explain what has been identified and the options available, which may include disconnecting the appliance until it can be repaired, in line with standard safety practice.
Keeping on top of renewals
Because certificates are valid for 12 months, it can help to book your next check a few weeks before the current one expires, giving time to arrange an appointment without risking a gap in cover.
What this service costs
A Gas Safety Certificate on its own is £99 + VAT on weekdays, £120 + VAT on weekday evenings, and £185 + VAT on Sundays and bank holidays, covering up to two appliances, with each additional appliance at £40 + VAT.
A combined boiler service and Gas Safety Certificate is £160 + VAT on weekdays, £190 + VAT on weekday evenings, and £185 + VAT on Sundays and bank holidays.
All prices exclude VAT, and there is no separate call-out charge for the visit.
