Boiler Repairs in Wimbledon

A boiler breaking down, especially in the colder months, leaves a home without heating or hot water at exactly the wrong time. We arrange boiler repair appointments across Wimbledon and the surrounding areas, carried out by appropriately qualified Gas Safe registered engineers, as required by law for all gas appliance work.

Boilers can display a wide range of fault codes and symptoms depending on the make and model, so the engineer attending will use the information available, including any fault codes shown, alongside a physical inspection to establish what has gone wrong.

Symptoms you may notice

  • The boiler displaying a fault or error code on its display
  • No heating, no hot water, or neither
  • The boiler firing up and then cutting out shortly after
  • Unusual noises such as banging, whistling or gurgling
  • Low or fluctuating pressure on the pressure gauge
  • The pilot light or ignition failing to stay lit
  • Water leaking from the boiler casing or pipework
  • The boiler failing to respond to the thermostat or timer

Likely causes

  • A faulty pump, valve or diverter valve within the boiler
  • Airlocks or trapped debris affecting circulation
  • A failed printed circuit board (PCB) or sensor
  • Low system pressure, often due to a small leak elsewhere
  • Limescale or sludge build-up affecting the heat exchanger
  • A faulty ignition system or gas valve
  • General wear in an older boiler reaching the end of its working life
  • Issues with the flue or condensate pipe affecting operation

What the engineer may inspect

  • Any fault codes displayed and what they typically indicate
  • Boiler pressure and whether it is holding steady
  • The condition of the flue and condensate pipe
  • Key internal components such as the pump, valves and sensors
  • Gas supply and ignition, checked in line with Gas Safe requirements
  • Signs of leaking from the boiler casing or connections
  • Whether sludge or debris in the wider system may be contributing
  • The overall age and condition of the boiler

Gas Safe registered engineers

All gas-related work on your boiler is carried out by an appropriately qualified Gas Safe registered engineer, in line with legal requirements. This covers everything from diagnosing a fault to replacing gas-related components.

Diagnosing the fault

The engineer will use the boiler's fault code where available, along with a physical inspection, to identify the likely cause. Many common faults, such as low pressure or a stuck valve, can be resolved during the same visit.

When specialist parts are needed

Boiler components vary by manufacturer, and not every part is held as standard, particularly for older or less common models. We cannot guarantee every fault can be permanently repaired on the first visit; specialist parts or a return visit may occasionally be needed once the correct part has been identified and sourced.

Considering a boiler service

If your boiler has broken down, it is often a good time to also consider an annual boiler service, which can help identify developing issues before they cause a further breakdown.

What this service costs

Boiler repairs are charged at the standard hourly rates: £99 + VAT weekdays 7:30am–5pm, £120 + VAT weekday evenings 5pm–9pm, and £185 + VAT overnight, Sundays and bank holidays, excluding VAT.

A one-hour minimum applies, then work is billed in 30-minute increments, with no separate call-out charge.

Replacement parts we supply carry a 20% mark-up on cost. Where a repair looks likely to exceed the time originally quoted, the engineer will let you know wherever reasonably possible.

Full details are on our rates page, and booking is explained step by step on our process page.
