Diagnosing the fault
Because electric showers, mixer showers and power showers all work differently, the engineer will first establish which type you have and how it is behaving before deciding whether the issue lies with the valve, the unit itself, or the supply.
Electrical work on electric showers
Electric showers involve a mains electrical connection. Where the fault relates to the electrical supply or wiring to the unit rather than the plumbing itself, this may need to be addressed by a suitably qualified electrician alongside any plumbing work carried out.
Repairing versus replacing
Where a shower unit or valve is old or a specific spare part is no longer available, replacement is sometimes the more practical option. The engineer will discuss this with you, and any materials supplied carry a 20% mark-up on cost.
When further parts are needed
Not every shower fault can be permanently repaired on the first visit; specialist parts for certain makes and models occasionally need to be ordered, meaning a return visit may be required to finish the job.
What this service costs
Shower repairs are charged at £99 + VAT per hour weekdays 7:30am–5pm, £120 + VAT weekday evenings 5pm–9pm, and £185 + VAT overnight, Sundays and bank holidays, excluding VAT.
A one-hour minimum applies, then work is billed in 30-minute increments, with no separate call-out charge.
Materials and replacement parts we supply carry a 20% mark-up on cost. The engineer will let you know wherever reasonably possible if the job looks likely to take longer than the time quoted.
